Job opportunity Our Summer Geologists will be based in Kiruna, focusing on the Viscaria Copper-Iron project, which is in an exciting phase of near-mine and district-scale exploration. This presents a unique opportunity to learn about discovering new orebodies and integrating them into an upcoming copper mining operation. The region offers immense potential for major copper discoveries and provides exceptional outdoor leisure opportunities near numerous Scandinavian attractions.
The work primarily involves drill-core logging, including core preparation, geological and geotechnical data collection, sampling, and field work, following rigorous QAQC protocols. These target zones are located between 400 and 1.7km depth within a well-preserved IOCG-IOA system, offering a rare chance to study both the tops and bottoms of such formations. The data collected during this phase forms the foundation for subsequent geotechnical, resource, and economic studies.
You will be part of a diverse team of geologists, supervised by experienced experts, but may also work independently at times. The role can be physically demanding as handling drill cores requires resilience. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a safe, top-tier mining jurisdiction in Europe, providing the essential skills to embark on a rewarding career in the mineral industry.

The roles
Production geologist (Kiruna, Malmberget/Gällivare, Svappavaara)

As a Production geologist you will work in one of the world's two largest and most modern underground mines in Malmberget/Gällivare and Kiruna. You will work with underground mapping, core logging, sampling, mapping/logging of geotechnical parameters, structural geology and recording of measurement data. Due to safety reasons, basic knowledge of the Swedish language is a requirement. Work is carried out on a shift basis.

Exploration geologist (Kiruna, Malmberget/Gällivare, Svappavaara)

As an Exploration geologist you will be working on the exploration of future iron ore deposits in one of our underground mines/open pits and their surrounding areas in Malmberget/Gällivare, Kiruna or Svappavaara. Depending on the role, you will be working with drill core logging, sampling, field geological mapping and measurement of structures. Work is carried out during the day with flextime.

About the role
We are looking for geologists to join our Geology group, where you will make an immediate impact on the development and growth of the Viscaria deposit and its associated Mineral Resources.

The position
We are now looking for a Geologist with specialization within data management to join our Exploration Department that has a focus on iron ore deposits. The department is in an expansive phase with responsibilities in exploration in our underground mines and open pits and their close surroundings in Malmberget, Kiruna and Svappavaara, as well as for greenfield exploration and resource estimation.
As a Data MGeologist you will be expected to independently work with a range of different geological data and in close collaboration with our clients within the exploration projects, both near mine- and field exploration.
Your responsibilities will be to manage the geoscience database and to maintain the same. Capturing various geological-geoscientific data into the database, making sure that the data collection follows standardized procedures and international standard QAQC. Documentation and reporting according to the PERC standard.
The position also involves supporting/training the junior employees in various issues regarding your area of expertise.
Together with the geodata team you manage our database and act as support for the exploration projects. With the support of senior database geologists you maintain and develop a validated and updated geoscience database required for geological modelling and resource estimation.
This is a permanent position and you will be based in Kiruna or Malmberget, close to the mining operation and city of Kiruna or Gällivare, situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.
Skills & Competencies
We are looking for a Geologist with a BSc or higher degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably within exploration and/or mining. Experience with managing geological data/database is required.
As a person you should be detail oriented, responsible and with good structural skills. Good collaboration is important for this position. Characteristics like accuracy, high quality and patience naturally fall into the role.

Vi söker en produktionsgeolog till arbetsplatsen Geologi.
Produktionsgeologens huvuduppgift är att arbeta med strukturgeologiska och geomekaniska frågeställningar i gruvan i Kiruna samt samla in och bearbeta data under handledning av strukturgeolog.

LKAB:s dagbrottsgruvor finns i Svappavaara, fyra mil sydost om Kiruna. I dessa dagbrott losshåller vi järnmalm genom att borra, spränga, för att sedan krossa och sovra malmen till ett rågods för pelletstillverkning. I vår verksamhet ingår även malmförädling i vårt anrikningsverk och pelletsverk. Gruvplaneringen i Svappavaara ansvarar för att planera brytningen av fyndigheterna i området, både på lång och kort sikt. Hos oss arbetar mätingenjörer, bergmekaniker, geologer och planeringsingenjörer. Mycket av arbetet sker genom samarbete inom sektionen men också mellan olika avdelningar.
Om tjänsten
Vi söker en driftgeolog till gruvplaneringen i Svappavaara!
Du arbetar i nära samarbete med geologer och bergmekaniker med att ta fram geologiska beslutsunderlag för kort- och långsiktig produktionsplanering. Dina huvudsakliga arbetsuppgifter kommer vara kaxprovtagning och framtagande av kaxkartor. Men i arbetet kan det även förekomma kartering av borrkärnor och geologisk fältkartering i dagbrott. Till ditt förfogande har du moderna geologiska applikationsprogram såsom Leapfrog och Vulcan.
Dina kvalifikationer
Vi söker dig som är nyutexad geolog och är sugen på att komma ut i arbetslivet! Du ser framemot att vara ute i våra dagbrottsgruvor i ur och skur och du är van vid att samarbeta och socialisera med dina kollegor.
Vi söker dig som har en kandidatexamen eller motsvarande inom geologi. Praktisk erfarenhet inom produktionsgeologi, provtagning och kartering är meriterande. Teoretiska kunskaper inom geostatistik, geoteknik, geofysik och andra närliggande områden värdesätts.
Vi ser dessutom att du talar och skriver flytande på både svenska och engelska. Körkort B är ett krav för tjänsten.

Vi söker en vikarierande Driftgeolog och en Gruvgeolog till gruvplanering i Svappavaara. Tjänsterna erbjuder en möjlighet till mångsidig, varierande och utvecklande arbete inom dagbrottsmiljö i Svappavaara.
Du, din arbetsplats och dina medarbetare ansvarar för att leverera geologiskt och bergmekaniskt underlag både för gruvplanering och för gruvproduktion i Svappavaara. Ditt uppdrag kommer att formas och styras delvis baserat på din kompetens och erfarenhet. Oavsett befattning är detta en unik möjlighet komma in på en arbetsplats för geologi och bergmekanik i Svappavaara.
Dina kvalifikationer
Vi söker dig som är självständig med bra driv och trivs med varierande uppgifter i produktionsmiljö.
Vi söker dig som har relevant arbetserfarenhet och utbildning inom gruvindustri samt malm- och strukturgeologi. Naturligtvis har du god datorvana, innehar körkort samt har goda kunskaper i engelska och svenska.
