Jobbeskrivning I rollen kommer du att delta i gruvans arbete med geologi. Du kommer bland annat att utföra kartering, borrplanering och provtagning, samt arbeta med modellering av resultaten. Genom att samarbeta med ingenjörer och tekniker säkerställer du att vi upprätthåller en hög produktionsstandard samtidigt som säkerheten står i fokus.
Gruvgeologifunktionen tillhandahåller geologiska underlag till såväl dagbrotts- som underjordsverksamheten.
 
Utbildning och erfarenhet
Du har en relevant universitetsutbildning på mastersnivå med inriktning mot geologi. Vi ser att du har mer än 3 års relevant arbetslivserfarenhet och har arbetat i gruva minst 3 år. Du har goda kunskaper i både svenska och engelska, i tal och skrift, och innehar ett B-körkort. The roles


The geophysics team employs a range of geophysical methods, including potential field, electromagnetic and seismic surveys. Downhole geophysical logging is also frequently used in connection with the drilling. The project range covers near-mine to greenfield exploration, and the former can involve underground work. The geophysics group also supports projects within other areas of the company and is involved in R&D projects in cooperation with universities or other research institutes.

The work duties typically include fieldwork, some data processing, and sometimes also writing shorter reports. You will work together with geologists, technicians, drillers, and other geophysicists, sometimes from external organizations.


What you bring

- The positions require you to have started a college or university education within geophysics alternatively an engineering or Earth science education at a similar level containing geophysical courses.
- Experience with field work.
- For all positions at LKAB, you must also have a driving licence (B).
- Desirable if you have used any of the programs: oasis, Montaj (OM), Modelvision or GIS etc
- Desirable if you have experience in mining exploration.

The roles
Production geologist (Kiruna, Malmberget/Gällivare, Svappavaara)

As a Production geologist you will work in one of the world's two largest and most modern underground mines in Malmberget/Gällivare and Kiruna. You will work with underground mapping, core logging, sampling, mapping/logging of geotechnical parameters, structural geology and recording of measurement data. Due to safety reasons, basic knowledge of the Swedish language is a requirement. Work is carried out on a shift basis.

Exploration geologist (Kiruna, Malmberget/Gällivare, Svappavaara)

As an Exploration geologist you will be working on the exploration of future iron ore deposits in one of our underground mines/open pits and their surrounding areas in Malmberget/Gällivare, Kiruna or Svappavaara. Depending on the role, you will be working with drill core logging, sampling, field geological mapping and measurement of structures. Work is carried out during the day with flextime.

What you bring
As a person you should be responsible and driven, but also percipient and flexible. The positions include a lot of collaboration with others, so good communication skills are essential.

- The positions require a minimum of 2–3 years of college or university studies in the field of Geology.

About the company
Avannaa Exploration Services is a Swedish consultancy company specialising in providing geosciences expertise to the Swedish mining industry. We are looking to hire a Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer for a variety of exploration and mining drilling projects.


About the role
The chosen candidate will work on iron-ore mining projects for a globally recognised miner, undertaking geotechnical and geological data collection on projects at different development stages ranging from early exploration to feasibility studies to advanced production stages, both at open-pit and underground operations. These projects are located in the Swedish ‘Malmfälten’ mining Provence of Northern Sweden.


Main responsibilities
? Geological and geotechnical core-logging, ensuring best practice is followed
? Continued database update
? Audit and perform adequate quality control checks of various data sets, overseeing QA/QC protocols to ensure the highest quality of data
? Project progress and technical reporting for clients
? Drill rig management

Requirements
Those who apply should be flexible and service-oriented, have a good ability to collaborate and enjoy working in a multicultural team. Superior communication, interpersonal, client service skills combined with a strong attention to detail and a high degree of integrity is required.
A minimum of 2 years' experience working on mining or exploration drilling projects is a prerequisite. Understanding of core-logging best practice is required, preferably with knowledge of parameters such as Q-System, RMR, MRMR as well as general geological and structural core-logging and geochemical sampling practices.


Education and qualifications
The candidate must have a BSc or MSc degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering, with some professional experience within mining and/or mineral exploration.
Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate fluently in English in both speaking and writing is mandatory. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous.

Your role 
We are now looking for a geologist to our near mine exploration group in Kiruna. The Exploration department exists to identify and investigate mineral deposits and secure LKAB's future. Mineral reserves and mineral assets are LKAB's most important resource, therefore our work is a prerequisite for a sustainable and long-term competitive LKAB.

As part of our team, you work in close collaboration with other geologists and technicians in an interesting workplace with challenging duties and good opportunities for further development. 

For this role the main tasks to start with will be collection and interpretation of geological data from drill core and supervision of ongoing drill programs, with room to gradually be introduced to other responsibilities. 

The near mine exploration department are amongst other things responsible for:

What you bring 
We are looking for a geologist with some practical experience in exploration, mining or project development. We see that you have at least a B.Sc. degree in geology. Knowledge of common software’s such as acQuire & Leapfrog is beneficial but not a requirement.

As a person you should be responsible and driven, but also percipient and flexible. The position includes a lot of collaboration with others both within and outside the company, so good collaboration skills are essential. 

A Driving license is a requirement for the position. You speak and write English fluently. It´s a plus if you speak and write Swedish, but if not, we want you to be eager to learn.

Your Role
As Geotechnical Superintendent, you play a vital role in ensuring quality-assured geotechnical data collection, directly contributing to the safety of LKAB’s Kiruna mine. Reporting to the Section Leader for Rock Engineering, you oversee all geotechnical logging and drilling programs, providing critical data for mine design, infrastructure placement, instrumentation plans, and subsidence prognoses.
The core logging is carried out in a modern, large-scale and well-equipped facility right in Kiruna´s new city centre (“Malmhuset”). The importance for geotechnical data collection and its active use and benefits has been increasingly recognized in recent years. The facility is currently being reorganised to become LKAB’s “geotechnical hub” in Kiruna.
You will regularly visit underground and surface drill sites, ensuring high-quality drilling through active feedback. Your work is supported by established procedures and experienced colleagues from various departments, while logging and drilling are carried out by a skilled, multi-national team of contractors.
As Geotechnical Superintendent, you oversee coreshed activities, including:
Acting as LKAB´s representative to supervise the work of 15+ logging geologists
Managing logistics, task prioritization, QA/QC, logging rates, and equipment maintenance.
Handling purchases and invoices for logging/drilling.
Optimizing workflows for efficiency.
Ensuring core quality through contractor visits and feedback.
and advise the core logging and drilling teams follow SOPs.

What you bring
We are looking for a senior geologist with experience managing large teams and drilling programs. The ideal candidate will be structured, able to organize and manage inputs from various stakeholders. You will have strong teamwork skills, collaborating with international contractors, and the ability to communicate effectively across different teams. Additionally, you will be expected to mentor and coach others, particularly new graduates, and ensure a safe work environment for all involved.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in preferably geotechnical engineering, or related branches like geology, mining engineering and/or earth sciences
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience for core logging teams
Minimum 3 years years hands-on experience with core logging
Proven expertise in management of drill programs and different drilling techniques
Experience working in a multicultural environment (e.g., international teams or cross-border projects).
Fluency in English is required. Swedish proficiency is a plus.

We are currently seeking Geologists interested in joining our team at LKAB during the summer. We have vacancies as Production Geologists and Exploration Geologists in all of our mine sites, Kiruna, Malmberget/Gällivare and Svappavaara.

The roles

Production geologist (Kiruna, Malmberget/Gällivare, Svappavaara)
As a Production geologist you will work in one of the world's two largest and most modern underground mines in Malmberget/Gällivare and Kiruna. You will work with underground mapping, core logging, sampling, mapping/logging of geotechnical parameters, structural geology and recording of measurement data. Due to safety reasons, basic knowledge of the Swedish language is a requirement. Work is carried out on a shift basis.

Exploration geologist (Kiruna, Svappavaara, Malmberget)
As an Exploration geologist you will be working on the exploration of future iron ore deposits in one of our underground mines/open pits and their surrounding areas in Malmberget/Gällivare, Kiruna or Svappavaara. Depending on the role, you will be working with drill core logging, sampling, field geological mapping and measurement of structures. Work is carried out during the day with flextime.

Our total number of job openings is aproximately seven in Kiruna, seven in Malmberget/Gällivare and four in Svappavaara.

Skills and Competencies
The positions require a minimum of 2–3 years of college or university studies in the field of Geology.

Östersjöcentrum är administrativ värd för Tarfala forskningsstation (TRS, från engelska Tarfala Research Station), SU:s centrum för glaciologisk och alpin forskning. TRS ligger i Tarfaladalen på 1135 m ö.h. öster om Kebnekaise, ca. 1200 km norr om Stockholm. TRS är öppet ca 5 månader om året då stationens egna forskningsprojekt och långtidsobservationer på t.ex. glaciärer, permafrost, hydrologi och klimat bedrivs. TRS besöks ofta av nationella och internationella gästforskare som genomför fältvetenskapliga projekt och utbildning i den unika miljön som omger stationen.

Projektbeskrivning
Sveriges glaciärer har sedan 2017 förlorat ca 11 % av sin yta, dock kan volymförluster inte kvantifieras med säkerhet. Kvantifiering av volymförluster kräver information om berggrundens position under glaciären, något som saknas för majoriteten av de svenska glaciärerna. För några få glaciärer i Kebnekaise-massivet förvärvades subglacial topografi från 1970-2000-talet, men dessa har begränsad användning som input till moderna numeriska glaciärdynamikmodeller.

Geofysiska metoder så som isradar - eller radio-echosounding (RES) på engelska - möjliggör både kartläggning av subglacial topografi och att studera glaciärernas inre arkitektur och dynamik. Inom ett pilotprojekt i samarbete med prof. Neil Ross/Newcastle University/UK genomfört under våren 2024 (här kallat TRS-RES), har TRS inhämtat RES-data vid tre av Sveriges fyra referensglaciärer. Data hämtades från marken såväl som från luftburna (helikopter) system och kommer att utvidgas till flera andra inom en snar framtid. RES-uppdrag har hittills genomförts för att etablera moderna glaciärernas subglacial topografi och därmed tjocklek, nästa steg i projektet fokuserar på glaciärernas inre arkitektur och glaciologiska processer och dynamik.

En spännande anställning i vårt forskarteam, med både TRS och SU som arbetsplats, Prof. Nina Kirchner (TRS) och Prof. Neil Ross (Newcastle U, TRS-samarbetspartner) som rådgivare.
Vi söker en forskare med expertis inom:


• RES-datainsamling, rådatabearbetning och analys
• Glaciologi
• GIS
• Vetenskaplig programmering (t.ex. användning av Matlab eller Python)

och ett stort intresse för


• glaciärerna i det arktiska Sverige
• att samutforma framtida forskningsriktningar fokuserade på tillämpningen av geofysiska metoder i det vidare TRS-området, helst inom ramen för
• internationella forskningssamarbeten och öppen vetenskap och öppen data.

Arbetsuppgifter
Uppgiften är att bearbeta, analysera, visualisera och tolka TRS-RES data som samlats in från svenska glaciärer 2024 och skapa 3D-kartor över subglacial topografi från dessa data, samt analysera RES-data med fokus på glaciärernas inre arkitektur och struktur. Aktivt fältarbete med inriktning på ytterligare datainsamling för svenska glaciärer. Utformningen av specifika forskningsfrågor som ska behandlas i dessa uppdrag förväntas bero på resultaten av analysen av de data som samlades in våren 2024, och utföras av postdoktorn i samarbete med TRS-personal och prof. Neil Ross/Newcastle University. Daglig organisation av sin egen insamlade data, fatta beslut om kortsiktiga prioriteringar om experimentell design och analyser. Beslut kring betydande riktningsförändringar eller bestående svårigheter kommer att fattas tillsammans med seniora samarbetspartners. Postdoktorn förväntas även sprida framgångsrika forskningsresultat genom refereegranskade forskningsartiklar som ska publiceras i internationella vetenskapliga tidskrifter och delta i kommunikationsinsatser.

Behörighetskrav
Med postdoktor avses en arbetstagare som anställs i huvudsak för forskning och som har avlagt doktorsexamen eller har en utländsk examen som bedöms motsvara doktorsexamen.

Bedömningsgrunder
Examen ska vara avlagd senast då anställningsbeslutet fattas, dock högst tre år före sista ansökningsdag. Om det finns särskilda skäl, kan doktorsexamen ha avlagts tidigare. Med särskilda skäl avses ledighet på grund av sjukdom, föräldraledighet, förtroendeuppdrag inom fackliga organisationer, tjänstgöring inom totalförsvaret, eller andra liknande omständigheter samt klinisk tjänstgöring eller för ämnesområdet relevant tjänstgöring/uppdrag.

Dokumenterad tidigare erfarenhet från arbete inom området radarglaciologi krävs, inklusive erfarenhet av radardatabehandling, visualisering och tolkning. Vidare bör kandidaten ha utmärkta kunskaper i GIS-programvara och använda vetenskaplig programmering (t.ex. i Matlab eller Python) dagligen i sitt arbete. Erfarenhet av geofysiskt fältarbete, gärna i polara miljöer, samt erfarenhet av samarbete med glaciologer och numeriska modellerare är meriterande.

Vi söker en mycket motiverad kandidat, som kan arbeta självständigt och effektivt mot deadlines samt organisera och hantera tilldelade resurser i både fält- och kontorsmiljö. Your role
As Group Manager for Geology and Mineral Resources in our Exploration Department you will lead a group of geologists who are primarily working with geological knowledge, geoscience data management and mineral resource estimation within near-mine and brownfield exploration for Fe-P-REE (IOA) deposits. Your role
We are looking for a Production Geologist to join the geology workgroup in the mine planning team at Svappavaara. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the extracted ore and crusher feed quality control through the implementation of open-pit GC best practices.
Working closely with other geologists, mine engineers, surveyors, and rock mechanics engineers, you are part of a team with the goal of delivering the correct quality ore in the right time. Your tasks will include conducting geological field mapping in the open-pit mines, overseeing ore sampling procedures, analysing data to identify ore grade variations, and providing guidance to operational teams for optimal ore extraction.

About the team
The mine planning department in Svappavaara is responsible for planning the extraction of ore deposits in the area, both in the short and long term. Here, we employ surveying engineers, rock mechanics engineers, geologists, and mining engineers. Much of the work is done through collaboration within the mine planning section and between different departments.
LKAB's open-pit mines are located in Svappavaara, about forty kilometers southeast of Kiruna. What you bring

We are now looking for geophysicists to the Exploration department who would like to come and work for us in Kiruna during the summer.
The work duties typically include fieldwork, some data processing, and sometimes also writing shorter reports. You will work together with geologists, technicians, drillers, and other geophysicists, sometimes from external organizations.
About the team
The geophysics team employs a range of geophysical methods, including potential field, electromagnetic and seismic surveys. Downhole geophysical logging is also frequently used in connection with the drilling. The project range covers near-mine to greenfield exploration, and the former can involve underground work. The geophysics group also supports projects within other areas of the company and is involved in R&D projects in cooperation with universities or other research institutes.

Are you interested to be involved in opening a mine? We are currently seeking a Resource Geologist to join our geology department.
Our department is heading towards an expansive phase, with growing responsibilities in both exploration and mining for upcoming underground and open pit mines and their close surroundings in Kiruna, as well as for our Arvidsjaur and Tvistbo projects. As a Resource Geologist, you will develop and update the geological resource evaluations for both exploration and operational projects. As a Resource Geologist, you will be a part of the geology management team, with a main speciality in resource estimation and geostatistics. About the position

We are now looking for a Geologist with specialization within data management to join our Exploration Department. The focus of the Department is on iron ore deposits and the supply of Mineral Resources at our underground mines and open pits and from their close surroundings in Malmberget, Kiruna and Svappavaara, as well as from more greenfield exploration.

As a Database Geologist you will be expected to independently work with a range of different geological data and in close collaboration with colleagues within the exploration projects, both near-mine and field exploration.

Your responsibilities will be to, together with your colleague, manage the geoscience database update workflows and procedures of data capture, validation and QAQC analysis. To capture various geological-geoscientific data into the database, ensuring data integrity through regular monitoring, maintenance, data validation and application of industry best practices. Documentation and reporting are guided by the reporting standard PERC (2021).

The position also involves training and support for database software, data management practices, error and data upload troubleshooting. Together with the geodata team you will manage our database and act as support for the exploration projects.

With the support of senior database geologists you will prepare script, stored procedures and data export, as well as maintain and develop a validated and updated geoscience database required for geological modelling and resource estimation.

This is a permanent position and you will be based in either the city of Kiruna or Gällivare, close to the mining operations and situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Geologist with a BSc or higher degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably within exploration and/or mining. Experience with managing geological data/database is required.

As a person you should be detail oriented, responsible and with good structural skills. Good collaboration is important for this position. Characteristics such as accuracy, high quality and patience naturally fall into the role.

We are looking for a Resource Geologist to join our Exploration Department, which has a focus on iron ore deposits.

Our Department is in an expansive phase with responsibility for exploration at our underground mines and open pits and their close surroundings in Malmberget, Kiruna and Svappavaara. The Department also undertakes more greenfield exploration and delivers all of the Mineral Resource estimations for the company. You will be expected to work independently on projects from the early exploration stage onwards and with a focus on iron ore deposits.

As a Resource Geologist you will be a part of a team that supports both near-mine exploration and field exploration as a specialist within resource estimation, QAQC and reporting.

The position also involves supporting the junior employees with various modelling and resource estimation issues. Good knowledge of database management is important. We offer an interesting and dynamic workplace with opportunities for development and challenging duties.

You will be based in either Kiruna or Malmberget, close to the mining operation and city of Kiruna/Gällivare, both situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Resource Geologist with a BSc or higher with a minimum of 8 years of experience, preferably within exploration and/or mining.

Since LKAB is reporting according to the PERC (2021) standard, experience in working with PERC or similar international standards is beneficial. We would like your experience to be within resource estimation according to international best practice and knowledge of common software such as Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine or similar.

We are now looking for a Geologist with specialization within data management to join our Exploration Department that has a focus on iron ore deposits. The responsibility for the department is within exploration in our underground mines and open pits and their close surroundings in Malmberget, Kiruna and Svappavaara, as well as greenfield exploration.

As a Database Geologist you will be expected to independently work with a range of different geological data and in close collaboration with our clients within the exploration projects, both near mine- and field exploration.

Your responsibilities will be to, together with your colleague, manage the geoscience database update workflows and procedures of data capture, validation and analysis of QAQC. Capturing various geological-geoscientific data into the database, ensure data integrity through regular monitoring, maintenance, data validation and application of industry best practices. Documentation and reporting are guided by the reporting standard PERC (2021).

The position also involves training and support for database software, data management practices, error and data upload troubleshooting. Together with the geodata team you manage our database and act as support for the exploration projects.

With the support of senior database geologists you prepare script, stored procedures, data export as well as maintain and develop a validated and updated geoscience database required for geological modelling and resource estimation.

This is a permanent position and you will be based in Kiruna or Malmberget, close to the mining operation and city of Kiruna or Gällivare, situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.

You should also have a strong interest in working with continuous improvements and optimizing workflows in order to improve already established routines as well as finding new ways to manage data.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Geologist with a BSc or higher degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably within exploration and/or mining. Experience with managing geological data/database is required.

As a person you should be detail oriented, responsible and with good structural skills. Good collaboration is important for this position. Characteristics like accuracy, high quality and patience naturally fall into the role.

We are now looking for geophysicists to the Exploration department who would like to come and work for us in Kiruna during the summer.

The work duties typically include fieldwork, some data processing, and sometimes also writing shorter reports. You will work together with geologists, technicians, drillers, and other geophysicists, sometimes from external organizations.

The geophysics team employs a range of geophysical methods, including potential field, electromagnetic and seismic surveys. Downhole geophysical logging is also frequently used in connection with the drilling. The project range covers near-mine to greenfield exploration, and the former can involve underground work. The geophysics group also supports projects within other areas of the company and is involved in R&D projects in cooperation with universities or other research institutes.

We offer an interesting workplace with opportunities for development and challenging duties.

Skills & Competencies

LKAB manufactures the world’s most climate-efficient iron ore pellets at the mines in Malmberget, Svappavaara and Kiruna, and now we want to become even better with your help. Our goal is to create CO2-free production of highly refined products with maximum utilization of today’s residual products with minimal emissions to air and water.
LKAB works on of the major exploration campaigns worldwide to expand the life of their business beyond 2060. The focus is the continuation at depth of our current orebodies which means mining towards 2000m. The challenges associated with mining at greater depths require an extremely good knowledge and characterization of the rock mass prior to any mine design.
We are now looking for experienced geotechnical geologists or rock mechanics engineers to accurately characterize our rock mass and continue to develop our geotechnical block model.
The main tasks comprise:
• Create a 3D geotechnical block model for both the orebody and side rock.
• Establish common criteria with the exploration, mine, and engineering departments on geotechnical issues.
• Supervision of core logging of geotechnical features, simultaneously with the ore resource geologists. Introducing data into Leapfrog and review of existing datasets.
• Ensure that the geotechnical data collection is adequately done, is standardized, and with QA/QC.
• Planning and follow-up of dedicated geotechnical drilling programs.
• Liaise with mine geologists and structural geologists.
The position is within the Mining Technology Department and you will report directly to the section manager.
You will be based in Kiruna. Travel between different mine sites will be part of the job.
Qualifications
You must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical mapping and core logging, good observational skills for rock mass characterization and knowledge of geotechnical classification systems (Q-system, RMR, MRMR), ability to review large datasets and 3D modelling expertise.
You are encouraged to have a well-developed ability to cooperate, excellent communication skills, experience in informal leadership roles and adhere to LKAB`s code of conduct. A systematic, structured, and self-motivated attitude is required for this role.

About the role
We require a passionate and experienced Project Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer. The chosen candidate will work on a variety of iron ore mining projects for a globally recognised miner, being responsible for supervising geological and geotechnical data collection on projects at different development stages ranging from greenfield exploration to feasibility studies to advanced production stages, both at open-pit and underground operations, in the ‘Malmfälten’ mining Province of Northern Sweden.


Main responsibilities
Supervision of geological and geotechnical core-logging, ensuring best practice is followed.
Audit and perform adequate quality control checks of various data sets, overseeing QA/QC protocols to ensure the highest quality of data
Leadership and training of technical teams, demonstrating continuous improvement of technical performance
Project progress and technical reporting
Accountability for meeting project aims and objectives
Ensuring continued good client and contractor relations
Assist management with planning of project staff and logistical needs



Experience requirements
Those who apply should be flexible and service-oriented, have a good ability to collaborate and enjoy working in a multicultural team. Superior communication, interpersonal, client service skills combined with a strong attention to detail and a high degree of integrity is required.
A minimum of 3 years experience working on mining or exploration drilling projects is a prerequisite, preferably with some experience leading technical teams. A strong understanding of core-logging best practice is required, with good knowledge of parameters such as Q-System, RMR, MRMR as well as general geological and structural logging, and geochemical sampling practices.
Previous experience managing surface or underground exploration drill rigs and contractors is favorable. Proficiency in MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) is also required as is the use and understanding of geo-database, GIS software, and 3D modeling software.


Education and qualifications
The candidate must have a BSc or MSc degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate fluently in English in both speaking and writing is mandatory. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous.
A full, clean driving license is also mandatory for this position.


Location
The position will be based in Kiruna, with work being predominantly undertaken at our client’s facilities in Kiruna and Gällivare.

About the position
We are now looking for experienced geotechnical geologists or rock mechanics engineers to accurately characterize our rock mass and continue to develop our geotechnical block model.


The main tasks comprise:
• Create a 3D geotechnical block model for both the orebody and side rock.
• Establish common criteria with the exploration, mine, and engineering departments on geotechnical issues.
• Supervision of core logging of geotechnical features, simultaneously with the ore resource geologists. Introducing data into Leapfrog and review of existing datasets.
• Ensure that the geotechnical data collection is adequately done, is standardized, and with QA/QC.
• Planning and follow-up of dedicated geotechnical drilling programs.
• Liaise with mine geologists and structural geologists.


The position is within the Mining Technology Department and you will report directly to the section manager.
You will be based in Kiruna. Travel between different mine sites will be part of the job.


Qualifications
Besides a relevant university degree you must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical mapping and core logging, good observational skills for rock mass characterization and knowledge of geotechnical classification systems (Q-system, RMR, MRMR), ability to review large datasets and 3D modelling expertise.
You are encouraged to have a well-developed ability to cooperate, excellent communication skills, experience in informal leadership roles and adhere to LKAB`s code of conduct. A systematic, structured, and self-motivated attitude is required for this role.

We are now looking for a Geologist with specialization within data management to join our Exploration Department that has a focus on iron ore deposits. As a Data MGeologist you will be expected to independently work with a range of different geological data and in close collaboration with our clients within the exploration projects, both near mine- and field exploration.
Your responsibilities will be to manage the geoscience database and to maintain the same. Capturing various geological-geoscientific data into the database, making sure that the data collection follows standardized procedures and international standard QAQC. Documentation and reporting according to the PERC standard.
The position also involves supporting/training the junior employees in various issues regarding your area of expertise.
Together with the geodata team you manage our database and act as support for the exploration projects. With the support of senior database geologists you maintain and develop a validated and updated geoscience database required for geological modelling and resource estimation.
This is a permanent position and you will be based in Kiruna or Malmberget, close to the mining operation and city of Kiruna or Gällivare, situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.
Skills & Competencies
We are looking for a Geologist with a BSc or higher degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably within exploration and/or mining. Experience with managing geological data/database is required.
As a person you should be detail oriented, responsible and with good structural skills. Good collaboration is important for this position. Characteristics like accuracy, high quality and patience naturally fall into the role.
You must be able to express yourself both in written and spoken English. Preferably also Swedish but if not, we want you to be eager to learn.

LKAB is seeking a Senior Resource Geologist that can act as Competent Person on behalf of the company regarding the annual reporting of mineral resources according to PERC with a focus on iron ore deposits. The position includes managing a team of resource and database geologists. Vi söker en produktionsgeolog till arbetsplatsen Geologi.
Produktionsgeologens huvuduppgift är att arbeta med strukturgeologiska och geomekaniska frågeställningar i gruvan i Kiruna samt samla in och bearbeta data under handledning av strukturgeolog.
Arbetsuppgifterna omfattar även projekt där produktionsgeologens uppgift är att hjälpa övriga geologer inom gruvan med borrkärnskartering och tunnelkartering.
Som produktionsgeolog ansvarar du för:
• Skadekartering med bergmekanikerna.
• Kartering av specialborrkärnor för geotekniska utredningar (skadade områden, vägar, schakt, tilltänkt infrastruktur med mera) samt datahantering för utredningar.
• Tunnelkartering/strukturkartering av vägar, infrastruktur och övrigt som inte ingår i produktionsområden.
• Involvering i layoutgranskningar vid behov.
• Bistå övriga geologer inom gruvan med borrkärns- och tunnelkartering.

För tjänsten krävs att du behärskar svenska och engelska i tal och skrift samt att du har B-körkort. Erfarenhet från arbete inom gruva är meriterande. Även kompetens inom Deswik, Leapfrog och Acquire är meriterande.

LKAB:s dagbrottsgruvor finns i Svappavaara, fyra mil sydost om Kiruna. I dessa dagbrott losshåller vi järnmalm genom att borra, spränga, för att sedan krossa och sovra malmen till ett rågods för pelletstillverkning. Om tjänsten
Vi söker en vikarierande Driftgeolog och en Gruvgeolog till gruvplanering i Svappavaara. Tjänsterna erbjuder en möjlighet till mångsidig, varierande och utvecklande arbete inom dagbrottsmiljö i Svappavaara.
Du, din arbetsplats och dina medarbetare ansvarar för att leverera geologiskt och bergmekaniskt underlag både för gruvplanering och för gruvproduktion i Svappavaara. Ditt uppdrag kommer att formas och styras delvis baserat på din kompetens och erfarenhet. Oavsett befattning är detta en unik möjlighet komma in på en arbetsplats för geologi och bergmekanik i Svappavaara.
Dina kvalifikationer
Vi söker dig som är självständig med bra driv och trivs med varierande uppgifter i produktionsmiljö.
Vi söker dig som har relevant arbetserfarenhet och utbildning inom gruvindustri samt malm- och strukturgeologi. Naturligtvis har du god datorvana, innehar körkort samt har goda kunskaper i engelska och svenska.

Gruvplaneringen i Svappavaara ansvarar för att planera brytningen av fyndigheterna i området, både på lång och kort sikt. Hos oss arbetar mätingenjörer, bergmekaniker, geologer och planeringsingenjörer. Mycket av arbetet sker genom samarbete inom sektionen men också mellan olika avdelningar.
Om tjänsten
Vi söker en driftgeolog till gruvplaneringen i Svappavaara!
Du arbetar i nära samarbete med geologer och bergmekaniker med att ta fram geologiska beslutsunderlag för kort- och långsiktig produktionsplanering. Dina huvudsakliga arbetsuppgifter kommer vara kaxprovtagning och framtagande av kaxkartor. Men i arbetet kan det även förekomma kartering av borrkärnor och geologisk fältkartering i dagbrott. Till ditt förfogande har du moderna geologiska applikationsprogram såsom Leapfrog och Vulcan.
Dina kvalifikationer
Vi söker dig som är nyutexad geolog och är sugen på att komma ut i arbetslivet! Du ser framemot att vara ute i våra dagbrottsgruvor i ur och skur och du är van vid att samarbeta och socialisera med dina kollegor.
Vi söker dig som har en kandidatexamen eller motsvarande inom geologi. Praktisk erfarenhet inom produktionsgeologi, provtagning och kartering är meriterande. Teoretiska kunskaper inom geostatistik, geoteknik, geofysik och andra närliggande områden värdesätts.
Vi ser dessutom att du talar och skriver flytande på både svenska och engelska. Körkort B är ett krav för tjänsten.
